Scaletech is a cleantech advisory firm working for multilateral institutions, private companies, and research bodies. Our focus is on cleantech innovation and the global scaling of cleantech through transfer and adoption to new locations in emerging and developing economies.

We provide advice on quantitative market research, financing options, go-to-market strategies, and physical redesign of aspects of the product that correspond to specific demands by users in the target market. We closely collaborate with international cleantech centers of excellence like MIT. Our clients have included the World Bank, United Nations, multinational companies wishing to innovate in their deployment of green technologies, and a range of startups. As part of our vision, we are also developing a digital product, our decision analysis platform, which is aimed at supporting the scaling process.

To strengthen our international team at our Potsdam headquarters, we are looking for an Product Innovation and Consulting Associate (m/f/x) full-time as soon as possible.

Your Tasks

Product Innovation and Consulting (Operations)

  • Support program management and product development across the organization by
    • being the link between the product and platform development team, our external technology partners, and clients.
    • researching key cleantech industries and their application in ‘growth markets’.
  • Support the management in all substantive aspects of consulting projects by
    • solving conceptual tasks to adapt environmental technologies to new target markets.
    • researching, analyzing, and curating relevant data.
    • ensuring quality products and services are delivered on time.
    • assisting with the preparation of reports, presentations, and other client deliverables.
    • presenting project status and recommendations.
    • managing correspondence with clients.

Product Innovation and Consulting (Strategy)

  • Assist relevant company strategy processes
    • Work with us in future funding rounds.
    • Create model documentation, develop implementation roadmaps, and perform knowledge transfers.
  • Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business.
    • Partner with (potential) clients in the international organizations sector (World Bank, UN) and private sector to understand their business and related needs.
    • Align our product portfolio to our clients’ pain points and needs.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in
    • environmental science, industrial ecology, industrial engineering, product development, or similar; or
    • economics, business, finance, social science, or similar.
  • Strong experience in climate-smart technologies and other climate change mitigation/adaptation strategies, e.g., carbon pricing.
  • You bring a passion for sustainable development.
  • 2+ years of consulting experience.
  • Experience in international markets and international working environments.
  • You have already gathered working experience in a startup environment.
  • You have a self-starter mentality and work conscientiously.
  • You bring excellent problem-solving and critical thinking and are solution oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills, focusing on communicating complex technical topics to generalist audiences.
  • Excellent written and spoken Business English skills; other languages are an advantage, especially German and French.

Your Tasks

Database design, development, and maintenance

  • Design and development of a relational database and complete lifecycle management.
  • Develop, install, and maintain processes for optimizing database performance, access, and reliability.
  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them to operations and activities.

Web application design, development, and maintenance

  • Writing well-designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
  • Design and develop website layout/user interfaces using modern front-end frameworks and libraries such as React.js, and css.
  • Integrating data from various back-end services and databases using back-end databases like Node.js
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
  • Create and maintain software documentation
  • Responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling our application.

Depending on the candidate’s profile, there is a possibility to be involved in the company’s daily consulting activities; and to help senior management define the company’s broader long-term strategy.

Your Profile

  • A master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information technologies, or similar.
  • You have strong experience designing and developing databases if given a large dataset.
  • 2+ years of experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and pgAdmin.
  • Ability to hand-code, analyze, debug, and deliver clean, validated, maintainable code.
  • Ability to write database queries and code while maintaining data quality is an advantage.
  • Excellent understanding of web application development project cycle and at least two years of experience in web application development.
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript and css (at least three years of experience) with a sound understanding of modern front-end frameworks and libraries such as React.js and back-end frameworks like node.js.
  • Experience in developing single-page web applications for multiple platforms and browsers.
  • Knowledge of common web security best practices is an advantage.
  • You have already gathered working experience in a startup environment.
  • You have a self-starter mentality, work conscientiously, and are solution oriented.
  • You bring a passion for sustainable technologies and climate change adaptation/mitigation.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.

Your Tasks

Marketing and Business Development (Operations)

·      Create a Marketing and Business Development Strategy for the company, and oversee implementation. This includes definitions of to whom the company sells its services, via what channels, and at what price – and to tun our marketing, business development and client relationship management efforts on that basis.

·      Revision of the company’s current bidding process for public tendering based on

o  experiences with bidding processes so far (i.e., areas where the company has had the highest success rates),

o  the company’s new corporate strategy. 

·      Development of new business lines, such as offering innovation challenges for multinational companies. 

 

Marketing and Business Development (Strategy)

·        Definition of research program that establishes Scaletech as a thought leader in the global scaling of clean technologies. 

·        Preparation of internal and external publications on this basis based on content provided by in-house experts.

 

Depending on the candidate’s profile, there is a possibility to be involved in the company’s daily consulting activities; and to help senior management define the company’s broader long-term strategy.

Your Profile

  • ·        You have a Master’s degree in business, engineering, communications, corporate strategy, marketing, or similar.
  • ·        You have experience in user and market research and know how to best use your findings to develop and communicate a business strategy.
  • ·      You have working experience in a startup environment.
  • ·      You bring a passion for topics like sustainable technologies and development.
  • ·      Good knowledge of MS Office products.
  • ·      You have a self-starter mentality, work conscientiously, and are solution oriented.
  • ·      Excellent writing skills, with focus on communication of complex technical topics to generalist audiences.
  • ·      Excellent written and spoken English skills.
